Bill’s professional career was in a family business, Allied National, which is a third-party insurance administrator (employee benefits). From 1979 to the mid-90’s Bill was deeply involved in developing computer systems and building an information systems department. Upon the retirement of the founding couple, Bill assumed the role of CEO. During that time, he was involved in every facet of the business from accounting, actuarial, compliance, operations, product development and legal matters.

In 2020 the company was sold to a subsidiary of Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama. In January 2023, Bill stepped down as CEO. Beginning in January 2026 Bill had a consulting relationship with Allied focusing on knowledge transfer to developing staff and assisting on select projects.

Bill sits on the finance committee and board of a bio tech start up and is an advisory board member with two companies in the health care technology/cost containment sector.

Bill is a life-time resident of Kansas City, married over 40 years with three adult children and, most importantly, two grandchildren. Bill graduated from Pitzer College in 1979 with a degree in economics.

Bill currently serves on the board of two not-for-profit organizations that are focused on helping teens and young adults have happy, healthy and productive lives. Bill also chairs the board of Shelter KC, A Rescue Mission (homeless services). He is also heavily involved with his church serving in several leadership roles.
